Return & Warranty Policy
Effective Date: 7/9/2026
Company: Ampstate Electric Corporation, operating as Ampstate
Website: ampstate.com
Ampstate supplies industrial electrical equipment, including circuit breakers, MCC buckets, bus plugs, switchgear components, transformers, disconnects, contactors, starters, relays, and related electrical products. Because many items are industrial, obsolete, surplus, refurbished, reconditioned, tested, sourced-to-order, or application-specific, all returns and warranty claims are subject to the terms below.
1. Return Authorization Required
All returns require prior written authorization from Ampstate.
Products returned without written approval may be refused, returned to the customer, or held pending review. Approval of a return request does not guarantee refund, credit, or warranty acceptance. All returned items must pass inspection by Ampstate.
2. Return Request Timeframe
Unless otherwise stated in writing, return requests must be submitted within 14 days of delivery.
The customer must provide:
-
invoice number or order number;
-
product part number or description;
-
reason for return;
-
photos of the product, packaging, nameplate, and any reported issue;
-
confirmation that the product has not been installed, modified, damaged, or used.
3. Restocking Fee
Approved returns may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 40% of the product price.
The restocking fee may be higher or the return may be denied if the item is special-order, difficult to resell, missing parts, damaged, altered, opened, installed, or returned in a condition different from how it was shipped.
Original shipping charges, return shipping charges, customs fees, duties, brokerage charges, payment processing fees, rush fees, testing fees, and packaging charges are non-refundable unless Ampstate determines that the return is due to Ampstate’s error.
4. Non-Returnable Items
The following items are final sale and non-returnable unless Ampstate agrees otherwise in writing:
-
special-order items;
-
sourced-to-order items;
-
obsolete, rare, or hard-to-find parts;
-
custom-built MCC buckets, control panels, or assemblies;
-
modified, wired, configured, programmed, tested, inspected, labelled, or altered equipment;
-
used, installed, energized, field-tested, damaged, or opened electrical products;
-
items sold as “as-is,” “final sale,” “clearance,” “liquidation,” or “parts only”;
-
products missing original packaging, labels, covers, hardware, accessories, manuals, or test documentation;
-
electrical components where safe resale cannot be reasonably verified;
-
products damaged by improper handling, shipping after delivery, storage, installation, or site conditions.
5. Condition of Returned Products
Returned products must be in the same condition as supplied by Ampstate.
Products must be properly packed to prevent damage during return shipping. The customer is responsible for return shipping, insurance, and safe packaging unless Ampstate confirms otherwise in writing.
If a returned product is damaged in transit due to poor packaging, the return may be denied or the refund amount may be reduced.
6. Order Cancellations
Order cancellations must be approved by Ampstate in writing.
Orders may not be cancelable once the product has been sourced, reserved, tested, modified, assembled, packaged, shipped, or specially ordered.
Deposits, sourcing fees, rush fees, testing fees, customization fees, and special-order payments may be non-refundable once work has started or the product has been committed to the order.
7. Limited Warranty
Unless otherwise stated in writing, Ampstate provides a limited warranty against product failure under normal use for 1 year from the invoice date.
This warranty applies only to the product supplied by Ampstate and only when the product is properly selected, installed, tested, operated, and maintained by qualified personnel in accordance with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and site requirements.
8. Warranty Remedy
If Ampstate determines that a valid warranty claim exists, Ampstate may, at its sole discretion, provide one of the following remedies:
-
repair of the product;
-
replacement with the same or comparable product;
-
store credit;
-
refund of the product purchase price.
Ampstate’s maximum liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific product giving rise to the warranty claim.
9. Warranty Exclusions
The warranty does not cover failure, damage, cost, or loss caused by:
-
incorrect product selection or application;

If Ampstate determines that the product is not defective, or that the issue is excluded from warranty coverage, the customer may be responsible for testing fees, return shipping, repair costs, and related charges.
13. Equivalent and Replacement Products

The customer is responsible for confirming that any equivalent or replacement product is suitable for the intended application, installation, electrical system, code requirements, and site conditions before purchase or installation.
14. Manufacturer Warranty
Some products may include a manufacturer warranty where applicable. Ampstate does not guarantee manufacturer warranty coverage unless expressly stated in writing.
For surplus, obsolete, refurbished, reconditioned, aftermarket, or previously installed equipment, manufacturer warranty may not apply.
15. Mandatory Legal Rights
