Shipping policy
SHIPPING POLICY
Effective Date: July 14, 2026
This Shipping Policy applies to products purchased from Ampstate Electric Corporation, operating as Ampstate, through our website, quotations, invoices, purchase orders, email orders, or other approved sales channels.
By placing an order with Ampstate, you agree to this Shipping Policy together with our Terms of Service, Refund and Warranty Policy, Privacy Policy, quotation, invoice, and order confirmation.
1. Shipping Destinations
Ampstate ships industrial electrical equipment throughout Canada and the United States and may ship internationally where permitted.
International shipping availability depends on:
-
Product type;
-
Destination country;
-
Export restrictions;
-
Carrier availability;
-
Shipment size and weight;
-
Customs requirements; and
-
Customer verification.
Ampstate may refuse shipment to locations that present legal, payment, security, carrier, or export-compliance concerns.
2. Order Processing
Orders are processed after:
-
The order has been accepted by Ampstate;
-
Required payment or deposit has been received;
-
Technical specifications have been confirmed;
-
Customer approvals have been received where applicable; and
-
Required shipping and customs information has been provided.
Processing times vary depending on whether the product is:
-
In stock;
-
New old stock or surplus;
-
Refurbished or tested;
-
Special-order;
-
Custom-built;
-
Modified;
-
Programmed;
-
Awaiting customer approval; or
-
Subject to third-party inspection.
Order-processing time is separate from carrier transit time.
3. Lead Times
All processing, production, and delivery dates are estimates unless Ampstate expressly provides a written guaranteed delivery commitment.
Estimated lead times may change because of:
-
Supplier or manufacturer delays;
-
Product availability;
-
Testing or refurbishment;
-
Engineering or production requirements;
-
Customer-requested changes;
-
Drawing or submittal approval delays;
-
Third-party inspection or field-evaluation requirements;
-
Carrier delays;
-
Customs or border processing;
-
Severe weather;
-
Labour disruptions;
-
Government action;
-
Material shortages; or
-
Events outside Ampstate’s reasonable control.
Ampstate is not responsible for project delays, labour costs, downtime, lost production, penalties, or other losses resulting from an estimated delivery date not being met.
Customers should not schedule installation, shutdowns, contractors, cranes, or production work until the shipment has been received and inspected.
4. Shipping Quotes and Charges
Shipping charges may be:
-
Calculated at checkout;
-
Included in the product price;
-
Added to the quotation or invoice;
-
Charged separately after the shipment is prepared; or
-
Billed directly to the customer’s carrier account.
Website shipping calculations may not accurately reflect the cost of heavy, oversized, palletized, high-value, or international industrial equipment.
Ampstate may contact the customer to revise the shipping charge if the checkout amount does not reflect the actual shipping requirements.
Additional charges may apply for:
-
Palletizing or crating;
-
Freight insurance;
-
Residential delivery;
-
Liftgate service;
-
Inside delivery;
-
Limited-access locations;
-
Construction sites;
-
Farms, schools, hospitals, mines, or remote locations;
-
Appointment delivery;
-
Dangerous-goods handling;
-
Oversized or overweight freight;
-
Redelivery;
-
Address correction;
-
Storage;
-
Detention or waiting time;
-
Customs documentation; or
-
Special handling.
The customer is responsible for additional carrier charges caused by inaccurate or incomplete delivery information.
5. Parcel and Freight Shipments
Smaller products may be shipped using parcel carriers.
Large, heavy, oversized, palletized, or high-value equipment may be shipped by less-than-truckload freight, full truckload, dedicated carrier, air freight, ocean freight, or another appropriate service.
Ampstate determines the packaging and shipping method unless another arrangement is agreed to in writing.
Freight deliveries are normally made to the exterior loading area of the delivery address.
The customer is responsible for providing:
-
A safe and accessible delivery location;
-
A loading dock or forklift when required;
-
Qualified personnel to receive the shipment;
-
Accurate receiving hours; and
-
Any required site access instructions.
Standard freight service does not normally include unloading, unpacking, indoor placement, rigging, installation, or disposal of packaging.
6. Customer-Arranged Shipping and Carrier Accounts
Customers may request shipment using their own courier or freight account, subject to Ampstate’s approval.
The customer must provide accurate carrier-account information and any required shipping instructions before the order is released.
When shipping on the customer’s carrier account:
-
The customer is responsible for all carrier charges;
-
The customer is responsible for insurance unless otherwise agreed;
-
Carrier claims may need to be submitted directly by the customer; and
-
Ampstate is not responsible for the carrier’s billing, service level, or claim decision.
A handling, packaging, pallet, or documentation charge may still apply.
7. Shipping Addresses
Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address.
Before shipment, customers must confirm:
-
Company name;
-
Contact name;
-
Street address;
-
Unit or building number;
-
City, province or state;
-
Postal or ZIP code;
-
Country;
-
Telephone number;
-
Receiving hours;
-
Loading-dock availability;
-
Liftgate requirements; and
-
Any delivery restrictions.
Ampstate is not responsible for delays, losses, or additional charges caused by incorrect, incomplete, or outdated shipping information.
Shipping-address changes requested after an order has been processed or shipped may not be possible and may result in additional charges.
For fraud-prevention purposes, Ampstate may require additional verification when the shipping address differs from the billing address.
8. Delivery Attempts
The customer must be available to receive the shipment during the carrier’s delivery window.
If delivery cannot be completed because the customer is unavailable or the location is inaccessible, the customer is responsible for resulting:
-
Redelivery fees;
-
Storage fees;
-
Address-correction fees;
-
Detention fees;
-
Return freight;
-
Customs charges; and
-
Other carrier costs.
Ampstate is not responsible for carrier delivery appointments that are missed, changed, or delayed.
9. Tracking Information
Tracking information will be provided when available.
Some freight, local-delivery, international, or customer-account shipments may not provide real-time tracking.
Tracking updates are controlled by the carrier and may be delayed or incomplete.
A shipment marked “delivered” by the carrier will generally be considered delivered unless the customer promptly provides evidence of carrier error.
10. Inspection at Delivery
The customer or receiving representative must inspect the shipment before signing the delivery receipt.
Before accepting a freight shipment, check for:
-
Torn or crushed packaging;
-
Broken pallets;
-
Punctures;
-
Water damage;
-
Missing cartons;
-
Loose equipment;
-
Damaged wrapping;
-
Tilt or impact indicators;
-
Broken seals; and
-
Other visible signs of damage.
Any visible damage or shortage must be clearly written on the carrier’s delivery receipt before it is signed.
Writing “subject to inspection” without describing the actual damage may not be sufficient for a carrier claim.
When serious damage is visible, contact Ampstate before refusing delivery whenever reasonably possible.
11. Freight Damage and Shortages
Visible shipping damage or shortages must be reported to Ampstate within 48 hours of delivery.
Concealed damage must be reported within five calendar days of delivery.
The customer must provide:
-
The order or invoice number;
-
Photographs of the packaging before it is opened;
-
Photographs of the damaged product;
-
Photographs of all labels and pallet condition;
-
A copy of the signed delivery receipt;
-
A description of the damage or shortage; and
-
Any carrier inspection documentation.
The customer must retain the product, packaging, pallet, wrapping, labels, and shipping documents until the claim is resolved.
Do not install, energize, modify, repair, discard, or return damaged equipment without written instructions from Ampstate.
Failure to document visible damage on the delivery receipt or report damage promptly may result in denial of the carrier claim.
12. Lost Shipments
A shipment will not be considered lost until the carrier has completed its investigation or the applicable carrier waiting period has passed.
Customers must notify Ampstate promptly if tracking has not updated or the shipment has not arrived within the expected period.
Ampstate will assist with the carrier investigation where appropriate but does not control the carrier’s investigation or claim timeline.
Replacement or refund decisions will be made after the carrier investigation and will depend on:
-
The applicable shipping terms;
-
Insurance coverage;
-
Carrier findings;
-
Payment status; and
-
The availability of replacement products.
13. Title and Risk of Loss
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, title and risk of loss pass to the customer when the products are transferred to the carrier at Ampstate’s facility or the applicable shipping point.
If Ampstate arranges freight on the customer’s behalf, this does not necessarily mean Ampstate retains risk during transportation.
Ampstate retains a security interest in unpaid products to the extent permitted by law.
14. Shipment Insurance
Carrier liability may be limited and may not cover the full value of industrial electrical equipment.
Ampstate may:
-
Include shipment insurance;
-
Offer insurance as an optional charge;
-
Require insurance for certain high-value shipments; or
-
Ship without additional insurance at the customer’s written request.
When the customer declines available insurance, the customer accepts the risk that carrier compensation may be less than the product’s value.
Insurance claims remain subject to the carrier’s or insurer’s terms, exclusions, evidence requirements, and claim decision.
15. Partial Shipments
Ampstate may ship products separately when:
-
Items have different lead times;
-
Part of the order is ready earlier;
-
Different shipping locations are involved;
-
Shipment size requires multiple packages or pallets; or
-
Partial shipment is reasonably necessary.
Additional shipping charges may apply where partial shipment is requested by the customer.
Ampstate may hold an order until all items are available unless partial shipment is approved.
16. Local Pickup
Local pickup may be available by appointment when confirmed by Ampstate.
Customers must not arrive for pickup until Ampstate confirms that the order is ready.
The person collecting the order may be required to provide:
-
Government-issued identification;
-
The order or invoice number;
-
Company identification;
-
Written pickup authorization; and
-
Vehicle or carrier information.
The customer is responsible for bringing a suitable vehicle and all necessary loading, restraint, and transportation equipment.
Risk of loss passes to the customer when the product is released to the customer or the customer’s carrier.
17. International Shipping
International customers are responsible for all destination-country requirements, including:
-
Import permits;
-
Customs clearance;
-
Brokerage;
-
Duties;
-
Tariffs;
-
Value-added taxes;
-
Sales taxes;
-
Inspection fees;
-
Port fees;
-
Storage;
-
Demurrage;
-
End-user declarations; and
-
Other government or carrier charges.
Unless Ampstate expressly confirms DDP — Delivered Duty Paid terms in writing, duties, taxes, brokerage, and import charges are not included in the product or shipping price.
International shipments may be offered under Incoterms identified in the quotation, invoice, or order confirmation.
If no Incoterm is stated, the customer remains responsible for destination customs clearance and import charges.
Ampstate is not responsible for delays caused by customs authorities, government agencies, sanctions screening, inspections, incomplete customer documentation, or unpaid import charges.
18. Refused or Unclaimed Shipments
If a customer refuses or fails to claim a shipment without Ampstate’s prior written approval, the customer is responsible for:
-
Original shipping charges;
-
Return shipping charges;
-
Customs and brokerage charges;
-
Storage charges;
-
Carrier penalties;
-
Inspection costs;
-
Damage in transit; and
-
Applicable restocking or cancellation charges.
Refusal of delivery does not automatically cancel the order or create a right to a refund.
Custom, special-order, modified, or non-returnable products remain payable even when delivery is refused.
19. Changes and Cancellations
Shipping changes or cancellations must be requested in writing.
Ampstate cannot guarantee that a request can be completed after an order has entered processing, production, packaging, or shipment.
Carrier rerouting, address changes, shipment holds, or delivery upgrades may result in additional fees.
Custom and special-order products may not be cancelled once procurement, engineering, modification, or production has begun.
20. Force Majeure and Carrier Delays
Ampstate is not responsible for shipping delays or failures caused by events outside its reasonable control, including:
-
Severe weather;
-
Natural disasters;
-
Fire or flood;
-
Labour disputes;
-
Carrier capacity shortages;
-
Border delays;
-
Customs inspections;
-
Government restrictions;
-
War or civil unrest;
-
Cyber incidents;
-
Port congestion;
-
Road closures;
-
Mechanical breakdowns;
-
Public-health emergencies;
-
Supply-chain interruptions; or
-
Acts or omissions of carriers and other third parties.
21. Returns
Receiving a shipment does not automatically make it eligible for return.
Returns are governed by Ampstate’s separate Refund and Warranty Policy.
No product may be returned without prior written authorization and a valid Return Merchandise Authorization number.
